Some of us Mothers & Shakers ladies are podcast addicts. We love that we can plug-in and grow our minds while walking, doing chores or while doing nothing at all.
We’ve been listening to podcasts for a long while so we thought we would share not only some of our absolute favourite podcasts with you but we’ve even picked out our favourite episodes! So even if you don’t have much time, we’ve got you covered.
Podcast episodes that you need to listen to now!
1. The Life Coach School Podcast with Brooke Castillo
Brooke explores how our minds work and how we can train our minds to achieve whatever we want in life. And we mean WHATEVER. Brooke explains how the only thing stopping you from getting what you want is you. But it’s the way she explains it, that is so powerful.
If you are stuck and don’t know why you aren’t getting to where you want to be, get on to Brooke’s podcast. Listen to as many episodes as you can and you will soon have a much of a better understanding of yourself.
If you’re only going to listen to one episode, this is our unmissable pick:
Why you aren’t taking action
This is the very first episode in a collection of over 180 episodes. It’s a difficult task to choose one so this one will set the tone for the kind of thing you can expect from Brooke. And if you struggle with taking consistent action towards your goals, you’ll begin to understand why.
2. The Marie Forleo Podcast
If you don’t know Marie Forleo yet, where have you been hiding?! Seriously though, Marie dishes out tips and trick each week to help you create a life and business that you love. All her advice is easily actionable today. Marie’s whole philosophy is that you are unique and that there is no one else like you in the whole universe so don’t hide, share your talent with the world.
Marie’s episodes are usually short, at around 7-10 minutes, so do yourself a favour and listen to them all.
If you really want us to pick just one episode, this is our unmissable pick:
How to get anything you want
You won’t find this episode on Marie’s podcast (which is called The Marie Forleo Podcast) as it’s an audio that you can only download once you sign up to Marie’s newsletter. Don’t let that put you off. Sign up (you can always unsubscribe later, although we don’t think you will!) and block out an hour or so and do what she tells you. You can thank us later.
3. ProBlogger Podcast
Everybody knows Darren Rowse right? And you’ve got to love him. So even though you’ve most likely heard of him, we couldn’t possibly leave him out. If you want to up your blogging game, you need Darren in your life. He is one of the very first ‘pro-bloggers’ and he has a lot of actionable stuff to share with a view to growing your blog. We especially love how he breaks the advice down in to small, easy to understand, bites.
Here’s our pick from the problogger podcast (actually we have 2 as they are related):
6 ordinary things that will grow your blog in to something extraordinary
5 obstacles bloggers face (and how to get over them)
Picking one episode was a tough job. A very tough job because Darren covers so many aspects of blogging from starting a blog to turning your blog in to a business and everything in between. But as this post is about growing your blog (and your mind), we’ve focused on that. Both these episodes talk about the small stuff you should (and shouldn’t) do everyday that will end up giving you big results.
4. Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield
Amy delivers content gold, week on week without exception. She provides extremely actionable advice on growing your business, on webinars, facebook ads and groups and more. If this is what you need to learn, Amy is your gal. But if not, there are other episodes on content creation, challenging yourself, list building and so much more.
If you’re only going to listen to one episode, this is our unmissable pick:
Are you repelling or attracting your potential customers (with Jasmine Star)
Amy interviews Jasmine Star in this episode and Jasmine is full of advice especially about finding your ideal customers/readers. Jasmine paints an incredibly detailed picture of her ideal customer and tells you how you can do it too. After all, if you know who your customer is, you will be able to find them so much more easily.
5. Learning with Leslie
Leslie is enthusiastic, excitable and so much fun. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a lot of useful blogging advice to share. He started his blogging career with a biology blog which became uber popular so he quit his job and started a blog about blogging. His mission is to ‘change the world one blog at a time’. We think that says it all.
There are lots of episodes to listen to about growing your blog, your social media and more and they are all very useful. But we’ve chosen a slightly different episode as we are choosing un-missable ones here.
Our un-missable episode from Leslie is:
How fear held me back from reaching my potential
This isn’t a typical Leslie episode in that it’s not about actionable strategies to grow your blog. But it is our pick because so often, fear holds us right back without us even realizing it. Fear can disguise itself as laziness, procrastination and/or dispassion. So if you’re stuck and want to give up, this episode might just help you understand why.
6. The Tim Ferriss Show
In each episode Tim interviews world-class performers from eclectic areas (investing, sports, business, art, etc.) to extract their tactics, tools, and routines that you too can use or learn from. This includes favorite books, morning routines, exercise habits, time-management tricks, and much more. It’s a ‘business’ podcast but with a very strong focus on the mindset of super achievers.
There are over 250 episodes – we haven’t listened to them all yet but have learned something from each one we have listened to. Tim’s podcast is ranked as one of the top business podcasts on i-tunes, if not the very top. So it’s not surprising that we can’t get enough of it.
Our unmissable episode/s are:
How to design a life (with Debbie Millman)
The secrets, tactics and creative processes of high performers and achievers (with Debbie Millman)
Debbie Millman is an inspiration. To hear her story is just so incredibly inspiring and makes you feel that you can do anything. How’s that for motivation? We’ve picked 2 because her first episode with Tim was his most popular episode ever (and that says a lot given how popular the whole podcast is). After the first episode, Tim got a ton of listener questions for Debbie so the second episode is Debbie answering some of those questions. Listen to both but start with the first.
7. Elise gets crafty
Even though Elise doesn’t create new episodes as regularly as she used to, her podcast is more than worth a listen. And there are well over a 100 so there’s plenty to get you started.
Elise chats about creativity, small businesses, blogging and more. Most of her episodes are interviews with creative-preneurs from different walks of life . The best part of Elise’s podcast is that you feel like you’re listening in on two friends sharing actionable strategies that will grow your creative business. A must listen if you are a creative but really for any small business owner and blogger
Our unmissable episode is:
On getting your goals down on paper
We all know we should set goals but how many of us actually do? And it does not have to be January 1st to start. Elise gives you lots of ideas and ways to set your goals and really plan for progress in your business.
While we’ve picked one episode (and sometimes two if they are related) per podcast, we will add that these are all podcasts to subscribe to pronto! We love them all.
Once you’ve had a chance to listen to some, leave us a comment on what you thought.
